Providence Players of Fairfax strives to serve our diverse community. In 2008, with support from the Arts Council of Fairfax County, we launched the Theater Community Inclusion Project. Our goal is to reach all segments of the community, providing quality, affordable theater to existing patrons while building new audiences for the future, particularly youth and underserved communities. Donations from our patrons helps make all of this possible. Make a secure, tax-deductible donation today!
As a way of nurturing future theater artists and recognizing the contribution graduating high school seniors have made to the arts community in our region, Providence Players of Fairfax has established a scholarship program that provides scholarships to college-bound students from area high schools. Scholarships are limited each year. This year, we anticipate awarding three scholarships, each of $1,500, to 2021 graduating seniors with a demonstrated commitment to theater arts who have been accepted to a U.S. accredited college or university or conservatory program with an intent to further contribute to theater arts.
Eligible graduating seniors must (1) reside within the school boundaries of Annandale, Fairfax, Falls Church, George Mason, Justice, Marshall, Bishop O’Connell, Trinity Meadow View, Woodson or Yorktown high schools OR (2) have been a member of PPF for at least one year. It is not required that applicants commit to a theater arts major in college, only that they plan on continuing their involvement and contribution to theater arts in the future. Download the 2021 Scholarship Application Form (in Word or .pdf formats)
Applications must be completed and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than April 30, 2021. Supplementary materials, including letters of recommendation, listed on the application form must be mailed to Providence Players at the address shown on the application. Providence Players must receive these supplementary materials by April 30, 2021. Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Providence Players of Fairfax Board of Directors. The criteria for the awards shall be as follows:
- 40% based on the applicant’s past involvement in theater arts and contributions made to theater arts;
- 10% based on the applicant’s contribution to Providence Players of Fairfax (if any); and
- 50% based on the applicant’s potential to further contribute to theater arts.
Decisions on the scholarship awards will be announced by June 1, 2021.
Recognizing not everyone can afford the cost of admission, Providence Players of Fairfax provides free tickets to organizations that serve underserved young people and their families. To request tickets, qualified organizations can download and fill out the form (Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF) and email to email@example.com. A limited number of tickets are available for each performance and tickets are distributed to qualified organizations on a first come, first served basis. All other ticket policies apply.
Special Free Student previews
Providence Players of Fairfax offers a special free preview performance for students and their guests, including teachers, the Thursday night prior to the official opening. No reservations are required and seating is first come, first served.
